There's a certain level on care and attention one should take with one's hair, particularly for women with long, flowing locks. However the dawn of extensions and various other such vanity-inducing products has created a culture that perpetuates the mistreatment of hair. Jennifer Ellison's recent mishap is a perfect example of this - the actress ended up with green extensions after popping out to her local swimming pool.
The Liverpudlian star is often has long blonde locks, enhanced by extensions, so it's little wonder the chlorine-filled water altered the colour of her hair. Jennifer, 28, took to her Twitter page to proclaim her shock at the sudden change from Light Honey Blonde to Witch's Green.
In fact, Miss Ellison acknowledged that her punk-esque new hair colouring was very similar to that of a witch and appealed for help in counteracting the embarrassing new shade. She tweeted to her followers: 'Help!!!!! My hair has turned (sp) illumines green off chlorine how can I fix it???? X'
Later Jennifer added: 'I've turned into Elphaba ha ha xx' That was in reference of course to Elphaba Thropp, the witch in popular stage show Wicked. But her appeal did dredge up one stellar piece of advice that she appeared to take on board immediately. A fan suggested sleeping with tomato ketchup in her hair, to which she later referred to in another tweet. She wrote: 'Well i think I may just have to put our pool to use today and make my hair even greener then sleep in ketchup!! Ha ha xx'
Earlier this month Jennifer launched her own fame academy at the Contemporary Urban Centre in Liverpool. Speaking at the launch the mum-of-one said she was focussed on unearthing the talent of the future. A teary-eyed Jen said: 'I'm so overwhelmed and happy to finally get the school up and running. 'It's been a long process. I set it up to rival the dance and talent schools in London and I'm extremely excited about the group I've got here so watch this space. 'Believe me you are going to hear about them.'
