What’s the best way to wake on a Saturday morning? Breakfast in bed with my husband Robbie and son Bobby. I love watching Saturday Kitchen with James Martin, it’s brilliant.
How has motherhood changed your weekend? Massively! Suddenly there’s this little person who is dependent on me, so I can’t just do what I want. He comes into our room in the morning and it’s just the loveliest thing in the world. He lights up my day.
Can you remember your first night clubbing? Ha, ha, yes! There were loads of times I didn’t get into clubs because the doormen knew me from Brookside. But I did sneak out with Suzanne Collins who played my sister. We went to a gay club in Liverpool called Garlands. It was fantastic!
Ever had a weekend disaster? I’ve never had anything terrible happen but there have been times when I’ve been really, really excited about a night out – and then when I’m out it’s just the biggest let down.
Beer or Bolly? I’m more of a champagne girl. When I go out I like to get dressed up and have a nice glass of champagne. Who do you most like to spend a Sunday with? My husband and little boy. I actually enjoy those days the most, when it’s just the three of us. We entertain a lot in our house, so it’s nice just to chill out. Sunday’s our special day.
Who makes the best roast? Oh God, this is going to get me in trouble – my mother-in-law, Joan. She makes the best roast potatoes. When I was pregnant I had a terrible craving for them. That was probably why I put on four stone to be honest.
What are your earliest weekend memories? As a family we used to always do something together. My grandma on my dad’s side had loads of children so all the grandkids would get together and go to her house on a Sunday. Not doing anything that needed any money, just stuff like going cockling in Morecambe or going to the park.
How much do you dread getting up on a Monday?Aargh, I hate Mondays! I love Fridays because that’s the start of the weekend. Even though I work over the weekend because I’m setting up my own performing arts school, it still feels more relaxed.
When was your last shopping splurge? Going out spending loads of money on myself isn’t something I enjoy any more. I used to spend loads on designer clothes but now my priorities have changed.
What’s been your most memorable weekend?I had Bobby on a Thursday so probably the first weekend being a parent. It was so life-changing – you look at this little baby and realise life is never going to be the same again.
