INJURED theatre star Jennifer Ellison today explained why the show must go on despite injuring herself during a Calendar Girls rehearsal – as she headed straight back to work in Liverpool. The actress broke her wrist, dislocated her shoulder and finger and tore muscles in her back in an attempt to save a piano from falling over.
But she was eager to get back to her Fame Academy at Liverpool’s CUC just 24 hours after her Calendar Girls piano accident. And Jennifer, who is sporting a huge cast on her right arm, still turned up for her radio shot on Rossie’s 24 Hour Breakfast to support Liverpool Unites and Cash for Kids.
She told the ECHO: “I’m gutted because I’m one of those people who never has a day off work, even when I’m really ill. I was upset because I have to take two weeks off from Calendar Girls but I’ll be back for Belfast on October 3.
“It was too dangerous medically to do the show because of having to move the furniture on stage. And I wouldn’t be able to play the piano. “I’m still 100 per cent behind the Fame Academy. I was there last Sunday and I’ll be there next Sunday too. I had people teaching for me so I had to tell them what to do rather than show them.”
